An American, homemade, watertight, underwater camera housing constructed by converting a store-bought Montgomery Ward pressure cooker. This Housing is a classic example of the ingenuity and pioneering spirit that marked America in the post World War II years. In the early 1950’s the new sport of scuba diving began to slowly enter mainstream American leisure sports, but was hampered by the relatively high cost of equipment. Many budding divers solved this financial issue by following the “Do it Yourself” articles in magazines such as Popular Mechanics and building regulators, back packs and camera housing such as this one.
