Another outstanding year at the 11th Annual Cayman Cookout
There’s something magical about January in the Cayman Islands. While many of our neighbors to the north are embracing ‘Dry January’ and making resolutions to stick to a healthier diet, here in our slice of tropical paradise, the islands are celebrating Culinary Month.
 
Far away from the winter freeze, every January, food and drink connoisseurs flock to the Ritz-Carlton resort on Grand Cayman’s Seven Mile Beach for an epicurean escape like no other. With a dazzling line-up of world-renowned chefs, including Eric Ripert, Jose Andres, Emeril Lagasse, Andrew Zimmerman and Dominique Crenn, this year’s Cayman Cookout was definitely another long weekend to remember.
 
We came, we ate, we drank! Over 4 days, we enjoyed an enticing agenda of demos, tastings and interactive events. From Sipping while Sunset Sailing to Dinner Under the Stars, the talented team at the Ritz-Carlton alongside visiting beverage experts and celebrity chefs certainly put on an exceptional schedule of events. It’s easy to see why the Cayman Islands are widely referred to as the “Culinary Capital of the Caribbean”.
 
Here’s just a taste of some of our favourite moments of the 11th Annual Cayman Cookout:
 
Sipping while Sunset Sailing, presented by NetJets
Sampling the exceptional wines of Thomas Fogarty and bites from the Ritz-Carlton’s talented culinary team, on a luxury catamaran, while the sun sets over the stunning Caribbean Sea – Thursday evenings don’t get much better than that!
 
The arrival of Jose Andres
While “Ole Jose with Jose Andres” is always one of the most popular events in the Cayman Cookout schedule, it’s Chef Jose’s unique style of arriving at the event that we were most looking forward to. Whether it’s zooming in on a jet ski or jumping 15ft from a helicopter into the Caribbean Sea off Seven Mile Beach, every year the arrival of this jovial culinary mastermind has been a sight to behold. This year was no exception with the extravagant chef emerging from the turquoise waters in a yellow submarine, to the soundtrack of the Beatles classic of course.
 
The Beach Bash, presented by Progressive Distributors
One of the signature events of the Cayman Cookout, The Beach Bash whisks attendees across the North Sound to Grand Cayman’s North Side. It was there, at Rum Point, that we were treated to a street food extravaganza with Chefs Emeril Lagasse and Nancy Silverton, among others, while sipping on a chilled glass of Moet Imperial. Paradise found!
