PEDRO ST. JAMES

An authentic Caribbean great house from the early 18th century, Pedro St. James is the oldest building on Grand Cayman and has come to symbolise the birthplace of democracy in Cayman. The grounds also include an authentic outbuilding, original Caymanian cottages and multiple gardens.

After years of extensive restoration, the Pedro St. James historic site has been unveiled as the Cayman Island’s first national landmark. The area spans an impressive 7.65 acres and holds historical significance as the birthplace of democracy in the Cayman Islands. The new Pedro St. James great house was created to be the central point of interest for tourists. Its three-level design with wide verandas was modelled specifically on the architecture of the original structure.

Visitors to Pedro St. James are also invited inside the state-of-the-art multimedia centre to view a fascinating video that highlights over 200 years of the Cayman Islands’ history. A natural tropical park overflowing with native trees and plants also surrounds this gorgeous Caribbean attraction, making it a widely-sought after venue for weddings and other social events. There is also a recent addition to the beautiful property, the Outpost, which hosts rum tastings, a self-guided rum tour featuring some of Cayman Spirits original distilling equipment, light food offerings and, of course, some of Cayman Spirits’ signature refreshments. Visit Pedro St. James and experience the natural beauty and cultural significance that gives the Cayman Islands its unique identity.

Pedro St. James

Pedro St James was a great way to see the island and learn a little history. Our guide, Brian was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable and took us to some off the beaten path places. I would recommend this to anyone.
