Health and Wellness

Within the last two years, CIDOT has focused its attention on promoting wellness in the Cayman Islands. The aim is to increase awareness of the destination which offers a wide range of activities and events based around wellness and inviting guests to enjoy them while surrounded by the natural beauty and tranquil setting of the three islands.

The Global Wellness Institute recognizes that more visitors are considering wellbeing and fitness while travelling. Wellness tourism is identified as travel for those who seek to improve or maintain their wellbeing during or as a result of their trip. Travellers include wellness experiences as part of their secondary experiences regardless of the type of trip and the industry recognized that global wellness tourism grew 14% over 2013 and 2014.

The Cayman Islands offers a wealth of experiences for guests from Spa, yoga and meditation, to culinary and cultural events. These experiences can focus on the individual or shared as part of multigenerational travel.

In 2016, several journalists visited the Cayman Islands to help amplify awareness of the destination among key North American travellers and encourage future visitation. This resulted in features in SwimBikeMom, Outside, The Active Times and Shape magazine in the USA and in Ottawa Life Magazine, ottawalife.com, 29secrets.com and yahoo.ca in Canada.
