National Tourism Plan

To ensure that tourism growth in the Cayman Islands takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts as well as addresses the needs of visitors, industry and host communities, the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism has partnered with Solimar International, one of the world’s leading Sustainable Tourism Consulting firms and George Washington University, Washington DC, USA to develop a National Tourism Plan to cover 2018 – 2023.

Through a collaborative process, the project team has been working alongside tourism stakeholders to establish a shared strategic direction  and strategic goals which will impact the future sustainability and competitiveness of the Cayman Islands as a tourism destination. Since the last quarter of 2016, the Department of Tourism has organized several tourism stakeholder workshops, district tourism community meetings  and interviews to solicit feedback as input into various components of the Draft National Tourism Plan. The refinement and finalization of the Plan in 2018 will be hinged on the final feedback received through the public consultation process which ended on September 26th.
