Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, 3 November 2017-- A new Tourism Ambassador has earned her title following a vigorous debate at the annual Tourism Speak-Off held Thursday, 2 November.  Miss Zariah Anglin from Grace Christian Academy will represent the Cayman Islands throughout 2018 at various tourism events locally and at select international forums.  The Tourism Speak-Off-- a programme that encourages tourism awareness among high school students from a local and global perspective—is hosted by the Ministry and Department of Tourism and the Cayman Islands Tourism Association.

In a first for the event, there was a tie at the end of the regular debate. A tie-breaker question was asked of the top two students—each debater was challenged to present what his/her favourite tourism product is in the Cayman Islands and why.

The Tourism Speak-Off competition has been a part of the Department of Tourism’s local tourism awareness programme since 2003. In addition to promoting tourism awareness, the Speak-Off’s objective is to assist young students to develop useful communication, reasoning and public speaking skills that will serve them throughout their lives academically and professionally.
