The Cayman Islands will continue to be among the most highly sought-after luxury travel destinations following the completion of the Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa's two-phase, $50 million (£36 million) renovation. Located on the widest and most expansive portion of Grand Cayman's famed Seven Mile Beach, Westin Grand Cayman is now the newest property on the island. The beachfront resort was spared from this year's devastating storm systems due to its position in the western region of the Caribbean Sea and visitors checking into the resort this autumn will enjoy entirely redesigned guest rooms and suites.

The top-to-bottom renewal also introduces a fresh, contemporary aesthetic in all indoor and outdoor public spaces, as well as enriched guest experiences. Frequent guests of the resort and newcomers will enjoy the resort's new, refined design and unparalleled location on one of the world's most famous and award-winning beaches. Design inspiration was drawn from the sights, smells, tastes, sounds, and peace and serenity of the beachfront location to set the framework for enhancement. Westin Grand Cayman's redesigned public spaces and accommodations feature natural materials used in harmony with the landscape creating an authentic sense of place for guests. While contemporary touches are showcased throughout the newly enhanced resort, the design team paid special attention to preserving the property's Caribbean sensibility.

All of Westin Grand Cayman's 343 luxe accommodations, ranging from Island View Rooms to the Deluxe Ocean Front Rooms, many of which feature private terraces with direct walking access to the pool and beach, received a floor-to-ceiling transformation with colours, textures and materials inspired by the surrounding environment. The resort's expansive Presidential Suite and Governor's Suite, both offering indoor and outdoor living space with private beachfront verandas, will continue to be among the most sought-after residences for VIPs following their extensive renewal. The calming, neutral colour palette was inspired by the natural elements of water, sky and earth, creating a seamless flow between interiors and the environment outside. Living spaces and bathrooms have been fully updated and modernised with details such as refreshed wood flooring, state-of-the-art appliances and fixtures and glass shower doors, making accommodations more contemporary and welcoming for guests.

Highlights from the first phase of the renovation include a completely redesigned, open and inviting lobby area, elevating the sense of arrival for guests. Featuring a bright, neutral colour palette, natural, linear sand-tone wood plank flooring, organic columns, and planes of soft, undulating curves on the ceiling above, the design conjures images of the ocean waves, while immediately directing attention to the panoramic views of the azure Caribbean Sea. Westin Grand Cayman's new lobby also serves as a chic location to meet for refreshing cocktails, including both classic and inventive martinis, with the redesign of the resort's Catboat lobby bar.

The resort's freshwater swimming pool, the largest on Grand Cayman, was redesigned with a restyled swim-up bar that allows guests to sip refreshing Caribbean cocktails while taking in breathtaking views of Seven Mile Beach. Elsewhere, the new Cayman Coffee Exchange now offers light, on-the-go snacks and refreshments, and the resort's fitness centre and retail outlets have been enhanced with modern designs married with Caribbean flair.
