Charles Joly has served up cocktails to the stars at several Oscars Governors Balls, but he says nothing beats the celebrity encounter he had at last year’s Primetime Emmy Awards after-party. “I was giddy meeting the Stranger Things cast,” says Charles. “The kids on the show were there, too, obviously not drinking, and it was so cool to see them having the time of their lives!”

Adds Charles, who dished with Hello! at the 10th annual Cayman Cookout in Grand Cayman this past January, "You see some A-listers, and it’s great, they’re hanging out at the bar with you. So it's funny who you end up getting star-struck by."

The Chicago-based mixologist is one again prepping for TV’s big night at the Governors Ball. “Our team is prepping about 8,000 cocktails in all!” he says. Here, he shares the recipe to the official cocktail of the 70th annual Emmy Awards.

RADIANCE cocktail

Elegant, crisp and intriguing, it walks the line between familiar and exotic. Balanced spice, citrus and subtle floral notes meld around a crystal clear ice shard that encases an array of edible flowers, creating the pinnacle of refreshment and refinement.

  • 1.5 oz Ketel One Vodka
  • 1.5 oz verjus
  • 1/2 oz rosé reduction
  • 1/4 oz grapefruit liqueur
  • 5 dash Bittered Sling Lem-Marrakech bitters
  • 2 oz tonic water
  • Orange oils
  • Edible flowers

Freeze flowers in an ice cube (optional). Combine chilled ingredients in a Collins glass over a flower ice spear. Add tonic and stir to integrate. Mist with two sprays of orange oils. Cheers!
