CIDOT Promotes Tourism at Chamber Career Fair

Cayman Islands 5 March 2021
CIDOT Product Unit attends Career Fair
On Friday, 5 March, the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT) participated in the 2021 Careers, Education, & Training Expo hosted by the Chamber of Commerce at UCCI’s Sir Vassel Johnson Hall. The Department of Tourism is pleased to support this education and development initiative as it strives to mold young people to be leaders in the community. The Expo catered to 1800 students seeking to learn about employment and educational opportunities.

The CIDOT was able to promote tourism as a viable career option by sharing information on various tourism related trainings and scholarships. Participating in career fairs such as this one is an important strategy to attain goal 5 of the National Tourism Plan (2019-2023), which is to develop a highly skilled tourism workforce and maximize the percentage of Caymanians working in the industry. This is particularly important given the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the tourism industry. The full reopening of the borders and revitalization of Cayman’s tourism industry will present opportunities for Caymanians to enter the tourism and hospitality sectors.
