Cayman Islands Department of Tourism announced as Headline Cheltenham Festival Sponsor

Cayman Islands 26 May 2021
Gloucestershire Cricket is delighted to announce that Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT) have expanded their partnership with the Club, becoming the official sponsor of the 2021 Cheltenham Cricket Festival.

CIDOT, who are already front of shirt sponsors of the Club’s LV= Insurance County Championship shirt, will now have a large presence at this year’s much-anticipated festival.

Just a couple of months away, the Visit Cayman Islands Cheltenham Cricket Festival is one of the most loved events in the social and sporting calendar and has been taking place in the heights of the summer since 1872.  After missing out in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic, this year will represent the 149th Anniversary of the special event.

Whether you’re an avid cricket fan or a first timer, the festival is the perfect opportunity to entertain clients, treat friends and family or reward staff to a fantastic day out. As part of the Visit Cayman Islands Cheltenham Cricket Festival, every festival goer will have the exciting opportunity to enter a competition to win return British Airways flights to the Cayman Islands for two people. Details of this competition will be sent directly to Cheltenham Festival ticket purchasers in advance of match days.

The ground’s idyllic setting at Cheltenham College has provided a perfect backdrop for the Festival throughout its history and is a great attraction for cricket fans, new supporters, and big cricketing stars.

A British Overseas Territory, the Cayman Islands is located in the western Caribbean Sea, south of Cuba and north west of Jamaica.

Comprising three islands, all offer something different from the barefoot elegance of Grand Cayman, to the adventurous spirit of Cayman Brac and the tranquillity of Little Cayman.

Speaking on being the official sponsor of the Cayman Islands Cheltenham Cricket Festival, Adrian White, Cayman Islands Department of Tourism UK & Europe Regional Manager commented:

“We are absolutely delighted to extend our partnership with Gloucestershire County Cricket Club and become headline sponsor of such an esteemed celebration of cricket as the Visit Cayman Islands Cheltenham Cricket Festival. This year’s festival will seem even more special to players, supporters and everyone involved after the long-awaited return to sporting fixtures. We are really looking forward to being there to soak up the atmosphere and add our own Caribbean vibe to the event whilst watching some first-class cricket in such a special setting of Cheltenham College.

We are also looking forward to welcoming fans and players back to our beautiful islands for them to enjoy the luxury holiday experience they have no doubt been craving for the past 12 months.  By offering the prize of British Airways flights to the Cayman Islands, we hope to bring that dream holiday closer for two lucky cricket supporters!”

Gloucestershire Cricket Chief Executive Will Brown added:
2021 is a special year for the Visit Cayman Islands Cheltenham Cricket Festival with 10 days of cricket planned across two formats of cricket. It was a huge frustration to  miss out on the festival last year, so it is doubly exciting to be able to welcome our Members and supporters to the Festival this summer.

We have had so much high-quality cricket played at the Festival in recent years. To put on this great event, we rely on the support of our sponsors, and we are delighted we have a new headline partner in the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism, and we look forward to their participation in what will undoubtedly be an entertaining fortnight in July.”

The Visit Cayman Islands Cheltenham Cricket Festival will host four mouth-watering fixtures which includes two LV= Insurance County Championship and two Vitality Blast matches. Gloucestershire welcome visitors Middlesex, Hampshire and Surrey to this year’s festival.
