Success of the Cayman Islands Global Citizen Concierge Program Exceeds Expectations

Cayman Islands 14 May 2021
Tourism Initiative exceeds all expectations since its launch with 231 global citizens accepted to live and work remotely in paradise
Despite Cayman Islands’ borders remaining closed to commercial airlift and cruise traffic, the destination’s Global Citizen Concierge Program (GCCP) has attracted significant interest from digital nomads wanting the flexibility to work and live remotely in the barefoot luxury of the islands. The program has helped these remote workers reinvigorate their nine-to-five schedules with Caymankindness and upgrade their home offices with breathtaking views.

Since the initiative was launched in October 2020 by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT), over 100 successful applications from families, couples and individuals have been received with most applications coming from the U.S. and Europe. “The Ministry of Tourism is extraordinarily proud of this program, developed and led by the CIDOT from concept to implementation,” shared Hon. Minister for Tourism and Transport Kenneth Bryan. “The positive feedback from applicants reinforces that the Cayman Islands remains a much sought-after destination, despite the COVID pandemic closing our borders. I am committed to ensuring the continued success of the GCCP and will work closely with my colleagues to amplify the benefits of being a Global Citizen in the Cayman Islands.”

The GCCP provides the highest standard of personalized service for long-term guests and global citizens from arrival to departure. Besides the idyllic location, one key attraction is the flexibility of a 24-month stay, which provides extended stability as compared to other destinations only offering a six month stay or less.  While successful applicants cannot become legal residents of the Cayman Islands through this program, they have the unique opportunity to truly immerse themselves in the wonders of island life. Additionally, successful applicants have the ability to leave and return to the country throughout their 24-months stay, once they have met the minimum requirement of at least 90 days per 12 months stay on-island. Strict adherence to the mandatory travel protocols, including pre-approval through the TravelCayman process, must still be adhered.
