As part of the CIDOT National Tourism Training Programme forty-one Caymanians will be offered the exclusive opportunity to attend these courses in partnership with Wineschool3. These accredited courses will be free of charge and offered to qualifying Caymanians who either wish to launch a career or develop their skills in the drinks and hospitality industry.

Shaker International Bartenders Course

The Shaker International Bartenders course includes practical skills and the theoretical knowledge required for professional bartending either in bars, restaurants and hotels. The syllabus includes five modules which covers the mechanics of bartending, customer service, beer, wine and champagne service and cocktail mixology.

Participants, who will be provided with bar tending kits to complete the course, must be over the legal age for drinking alcohol (18 years old) and meet the qualifying criteria to be considered. Students will be required to attend  at least 80% of the sessions and pass the WSET exams to obtain international certificates which is a recognized qualification in the Cayman Islands.

The bartending training will be open to sixteen Caymanians (proof of citizenship required) and will begin on 8th November for 12 days, running from Monday to Saturday 9 am to 5pm (off Sunday).

AHLEI & WSET Front of House Training course

The Front of House Training course focuses on training students to offer an outstanding dining experience with the highest level of professionalism. The course is designed to facilitate ‘work ready’ hospitality employees who can build a career in the service industry while enhancing Cayman’s Tourism product.

The syllabus includes a variety of topics to ensure that individuals possess a broad scope of skills needed for the fast-paced hospitality industry. This includes meeting and greeting guests, restaurant server training, service sequence, kitchen safety guidelines, sanitation regulations, up-selling and more.

The Minister for Tourism, Hon. Kenneth Bryan stated “I am thrilled that the Ministry and Department of Tourism are partnering with private sector to offer these training courses to Caymanians who wish to work in the tourism industry, or those who wish to develop their existing skills. As we continue working towards reopening our borders and inviting visitors back to our island, it is imperative that we also continue to upskill our employees in the tourism sector. Job opportunities will be opening up for Caymanians who wish to work in hospitality and having this type of accredited certification will be an added advantage. I encourage persons who are interested in enhancing their skills or joining the industry to register for these courses so that we can have more Caymanians directly engaged with delivering exceptional tourism experiences for our visitors.”
