CIDOT Announces 2021 New Hires & New Appointments

The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT) is pleased to announce new hires.
The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT) is pleased to announce the following new hires: Richard Tyson, Manager, Tourism Product Development, Tisha Davidson, Accounts Officer I (Payable), Jennifer Gayle, Hotel Inspector and Hannah Ebanks, Public Relations Officer. In addition to the new hires, the CIDOT is also please to share the new appointments of Malcolm Hurlston, Marketing Content Officer and Alyssa Miller, Events Marketing Supervisor.

Richard joined the CIDOT on 8 November as Manager, Tourism Product Development, where some of his responsibilities include Tourism Accommodation Licenses, National Tourism Training, and managing the development of Tourism Sustainability programmes. He brings over 11 years of experience in leadership, sustainability, environmental planning, and project management through his work in the environmental and tourism sectors. Prior to joining the CIDOT, he was employed with the Department of Environmental Health as an Engineering Technical Officer. In 2017, Richard worked as a Policy Advisor (Environmental Health) for the Ministry of Health, Environment, Culture & Housing and as an Assistant Naturalist at the Ambassadors of the Environment, Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman. In 2012, he was awarded a CIG Scholarship for undergraduate studies and the UK FCO Chevening Scholarship Award for 2016-2017. Richard holds a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering and Project Management from the University of Leeds, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Earth Sciences, and a minor in Geology.   

On 18 October, Tisha Davidson began her role with the CIDOT as Accounts Officer I (Payable). Previously employed with Collas Crill as a Finance Administrator, Tisha has experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, internal audit, and customer service. In 2015, she worked as a Finance Support Assistant with Walkers and as a Payment Processing officer at CIBC First Caribbean International Bank. Tisha holds a certification in the Association of Chartered Certified Accounts (ACCA) Foundations in Accountancy and has over 10 years of experience in the Banking and Finance industry.  

The CIDOT welcomed Jennifer on 1 October as its newest Hotel Inspector in the Product Development Unit. Jennifer comes to the CIDOT with over 14 years of experience in customer service, sales, property management, and hospitality skills. Prior to joining the CIDOT, Jennifer was employed as a Property Manager at Cayman Villas. Additionally, she has worked as a Property Manager with Paradise Properties Cayman Ltd. and as an Assistant Front Office Manager with Plantation Village Beach Resort.

Hannah Ebanks joined the CIDOT on 1 July as the Public Relations Officer in the Public Relations Unit. Hannah holds a bachelor’s in journalism with a minor in marketing and Marketing Communications from Emerson College. Hannah comes to the CIDOT with experience in public relations, marketing, and journalism. She was previously employed with B Squared Communications as an Account Coordinator. In 2020, she worked as a Marketing Associate with TribalVision and, in 2019, as a Communications Intern with the Belfer Center.

On 1 September, Malcolm was appointed as Content Marketing Officer in the E-Business and Research Unit. Malcolm began his employment with the CIDOT in May 2016 as an Enumerator & Research Assistant. Before joining the CIDOT, Malcolm was employed with the Department of Immigration as a Customer Service & Finance Officer. Malcolm holds a Certification in Hootsuite Social Media Marketing. Malcolm has experience in the tourism industry and brings experience in operating various social media platforms, content development, marketing, and research knowledge.

Alyssa began her new appointment on 1 September as Events Marketing Supervisor in the National Promotions and Events Unit. Alyssa has over 10 years of experience in the tourism industry and brings experience in stakeholder engagement, events knowledge, and customer service excellence. She has been employed with the CIDOT since February 2012. Prior to joining the CIDOT, Alyssa was employed with Cayman Airways as a Group Reservations Specialist.  Alyssa holds an Associate Degree in Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality from Eastern College and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s in marketing.

Director of Tourism, Mrs. Rosa Harris said, “The CIDOT is excited to welcome onboard our four new hires. Over the past few months, they demonstrated hard work and commitment in their new roles, and we are pleased to have such diligent individuals be a part of the department. We look forward to seeing them utilize their talents and skills to help the tourism industry rebound.”
