MINISTRY OF TOURISM PARTNERS WITH HISTORICAL DIVING SOCIETY

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands (11 June, 2015) – The Cayman Islands Ministry of Tourism has joined forces with the Historical Diving Society (HDS) to bring the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame (ISDHF) to new heights in 2015 and beyond.

The Historical Diving Society has agreed to represent the ISDHF throughout the United States. The partnership allows the HDS to promote the sport of scuba diving, increase the awareness of the ISDHF fraternity of hall of famers and will support the efforts to preserve historical dive artifacts for the future home of the ISDHF.

“Having an organization like the HDS to manage and promote the ISDHF in the United States is extremely beneficial for the future of the Hall of Fame,” said the Minister of Tourism, the Hon Moses Kirkconnell. “In addition, the HDS will continue to procure diving artifacts that will eventually be housed in the ISDHF home site, which will be located in the Cayman Islands. It is our strategic plan to have a permanent location identified within the next two years which will further enhance the tourism product offerings as well as give the ISDHF board an established base.”

The Historical Diving Society, USA is an educational, non-profit whose mission statement is: "To preserve, study, compile archive and disseminate information relating to the history of man's underwater activities. Additionally, the HDS strives to promote public awareness of and participation in underwater activities".

Sid Macken, the President of the Historical Diving Society, USA, said, “This is an excellent partnership with the Cayman Islands and the ISDHF. We plan on continuing the tradition of honouring those persons who have helped to make the sport of Scuba Diving possible, safer and more enjoyable.”

The International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame was founded in 2000 by the Ministry of Tourism of the Cayman Islands. The Cayman Islands is a leading pioneer in dive travel and is a premiere world destination for divers. It is fitting that the Cayman Islands should be home to a hall of fame honouring those persons who have contributed the most to the sport of Scuba Diving internationally.

The 2015 International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on 2 October, 2015. For more information please visit: www.scubadivinghalloffame.com
