Productions bringing film, television or media production equipment into the Cayman Islands on a temporary basis must submit a Temporary Duty Waiver Letter Request to the Cayman Islands Film Commission (CIFC) for onward submission to Customs and Border Control (CBC).

The request must include:

• Cover Letter – outlining the production, filming dates, arrival and departure dates, method of import/export, and confirmation that all equipment will be exported from the Cayman Islands upon completion of the production.
• Full Equipment List – a detailed inventory of all equipment being temporarily imported, including item descriptions, quantities, serial numbers (where applicable), country of origin and declared values.

Requests should be submitted to CIFC at least 10 business days prior to the equipment’s arrival in the Cayman Islands to allow sufficient time for review, processing and coordination with CBC. Productions are strongly encouraged to submit documentation as early as possible, particularly for large or complex equipment shipments.

Important: Temporary import approval must be obtained before the equipment arrives in the Cayman Islands. Productions should ensure that the approved documentation accompanies the equipment and that the appropriate CBC procedures are followed upon arrival and re-export.
