A sunset sail should always be on your to-do list when visiting the Cayman Islands but during the Cayman Cookout, it’s an extra special occasion.
We boarded a luxury catamaran right on the beach at the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman for “Sipping while Sunset Sailing”, presented by NetJets. During the 2-hour sail, attendees were treated to a delightful selection of hors d'oeuvres paired with a fine wines from Thomas Fogerty’s boutique winery.
Our personal favorite, the Estate Chardonnay, was delightfully smooth with notes of vanilla and a much less oaky flavour than one might expect from a Chardonnay. Ray Isle of Food & Wine Magazine explained that the unique flavour was due to the cool climate of the vineyard, located on a mountain top in the Santa Cruz area. Whilst the Chardonnay was distinctly Californian, it definitely had a unique twist due to the elevation that helps grow the Chardonnay grapes.
